Got Dry Skin? Try This.

Skin is supposed to be smooth and supple and protect the body against hazards in the environment. However, it can sometimes get dry, or even start cracking and bleeding, particularly when the humidity is low. 

Fortunately, there are several simple changes you can make to your routine to ensure that your skin doesn’t dry out and that you don’t wind up with noticeable fine lines and wrinkles. Here’s what to do: 

Limit Your Shower Time To 5 Minutes

While taking a long shower is a luxury, it can also be hard on your skin. Hot water can strip moisturizing components off the top layer. 


Try to limit your shower time to five minutes or less if you can. This way, you can preserve your skin’s layer of sebum

Use Oils To Moisturize

Oils are nature’s moisturizer and do a fantastic job of keeping your skin supple when you come out of the shower. The reason for this has to do with the way oils protect the skin. The fatty compounds they contain help the dermis retain its moisture barrier for longer. 

There are multiple types of oils that you might want to use on your skin. Popular options include shea butter, jojoba oil and “B” oil. 

Wear Cloves

Dry skin often affects the hands first before spreading to the rest of the body. If you have dry hands, or you are prone to it, consider wearing gloves more often. For instance, you might want to wear gloves during winter when the humidity is low, or when performing tasks that make your hands wet. You might also consider gloves when handling greases, chemicals and other synthetic substances. 

Add Moisture Back To The Air

Instead of waiting for the summer for humidity levels to rise, you want to get ahead of the curve and add moisture back into the air with a humidifier. These devices work by heating water in a tray and then circulating the vapor throughout your rooms.

You should find that once the humidity level gets above 50 percent, your skin feels considerably less dry. 

Use The Right Medications

Sometimes, medical conditions, such as eczema, cause dry skin. Fortunately, you can treat these using the right topical medicines, such as Adbry

Stay Warm Without Sitting In Front Of The Fire

While sitting in front of the fire feels good on a cold day, it can, unfortunately, dry out your skin. Any open flame or heat source may lead to a reduction in sebum production, putting you at higher risk of flaking and cracking. 

If you suffer from dry skin, try wrapping up warm instead.

Use Non-Irritating Laundry Detergent

Even if you put your washing machine on a full rinse cycle, some detergent may remain in your clothes. While this is harmless for most people, it can lead to skin irritation in others. 

Check the type of detergent you are using. If it is an irritating variety, swap it out for a non-irritating version. You can also try wearing silk underneath your clothing, as this is less rough on the skin.
