A digital detox is a healthy way of giving yourself a break from the online world. The online world is one that can be a little overwhelming and due to relying on technology so much both in our personal lives and work lives, it’s good to hit the pause button every now and then. A good way of making sure that you don’t get distracted or start heading for your phone is to put it on airplane mode. By placing your phone on airplane mode, you stop any notifications coming through and that constant ding on your phone that entices you to check out your social media, emails, etc. It’s important to try and minimize the number of distractions that your phone or the technology can cause and that’s why having it on flight mode will stop it from happening so much.

Try Leaving Your Electronics In Another Room

Electronics are something you want to keep out of your bedroom at night to help with having a more restful night’s sleep. By doing so, you will likely forget about using them and focus on doing something that is going to aid your digital detox. Whether that’s doing a little pampering or maybe spending the afternoon reading a book.

When taking a detox from the digital world, it’s good to start off in small amounts. The last thing you want to do is trying to go a full month without your electronics because chances are, that’s not going to happen. So when you’re doing a digital detox, try logging off for a day or two first and then building this up. You’ll likely be surprised by how well you do eventually but to begin with, for most people, it’s hard to leave their phone for the whole day.

Let Your Friends & Family Know You’re Detoxing

Even when you’re influential on social media and perhaps have some of the best fan accounts made about you, it’s still important to take time out. It can be overwhelming, especially when you’re in a situation where it’s a part of your career or it is your career. So with that in mind, make sure you’re letting your friends and family know you’re detoxing and that your fans know too. That way, you’re not going to get a load of worrying messages. It sounds silly but as we all live and breathe online connection, people may notice you going offline for a few days and worry.
