Everyone sees the weekend as a magical time where we’re temporarily free and have nothing to worry about until Monday morning. As a result, the majority of people have some quite questionable weekend routines that are seriously damaging your health. So, if you’re the type of person that likes to binge eat on weekends and go out drinking, then this post is for you! Of course, everyone is free to do whatever they want to do, but let it be known that this type of weekend routine is bad for your health. Check out why!
Too Many Calories
I truly believe that healthy eating is one of the easiest things to do in your life. All it takes is a bit of dedication and commitment. Now, some of you may be eating extremely well during the week, but it’s your weekend that’s letting you down. During the weekend you could consume thousands of calories more than you need. This is easily done by eating things like takeaways, sweets, cookies, and so on. All those calories add up, which means you’ll probably start gaining weight – not to mention all the negative effects all that sugar and fat is doing to your body as well.
To stop this, all you have to do is be a bit more mindful of what you eat. Don’t binge too much! Give yourself some treats, sure, but keep track of what you’re eating, so you don’t go overboard.
Too Much Alcohol
Even if you don’t drink a drop of alcohol during the week, you can easily consume more than the recommended amount in one weekend. All it takes is a particularly rowdy Friday or Saturday night, and you end up filling your body full of a very dangerous substance. Aside from the fact that you could end up with a DUI from drinking too much and deciding to drive home from the bar, you can also end up damaging your liver, heart, and pretty much every other internal organ in your body. So, it’s possible to ruin your whole life all in one drinking session!
The good news is, this can easily be prevented by simply – wait for it – not drinking too much! Be aware of the units you’re consuming, and just take it easy. Aim to be tipsy instead of blackout drunk, and your body will thank you for it.
Not Enough Movement
Lastly, we’re all guilty of not moving enough on the weekend. This means we don’t burn any calories. Instead, we’re consuming them! This is a recipe for disaster.
You don’t have to go to the gym or work out on the weekend – in fact, these are good rest days. But, you should at least try and be a bit active. Go for some long walks and try to get 10,000 steps in, you’ll be amazed at how many calories this burns.
Is Your Weekend Routine Ruining Your Health?
One bad weekend in a month isn’t going to damage your health. But, if your weekend routine is consistently bad, then you’re never going to achieve the health & fitness goals you desire.
