I Finally Got a Pressure Cooker and This Is What Happened

I got a pressure cooker and this is what happened

When I moved in with my husband six years ago, we didn’t have a stove. In fact, we didn’t have a stove for a year. Yes. A YEAR!

What did I do?

I used my Crockpot religiously. I was obsessed with it. So much so, that when we finally got a stove, I stood and looked at it like it was so unidentified object that I have never seen before. Obviously, I began using it, but the Crockpot was and has been my go to.

Until now.

I recently got a pressure cooker and let me just say: GAME CHANGER.

Cook an entire meal in 20 minutes? You have my attention.

My first meal was a Hawaiian Chicken dinner that I found on Pinterest. Check it out here. Instead of making it a sheet pan recipe, I put it all in the pressure cooker minus the rice.

So delicious! Since it was my first time using it, it took me a bit longer to cook because I was learning, but still 30 minute meal? Perfect for this busy momma!

Then I decided to try spaghetti squash. It usually takes 45 minutes to an hour to cook a spaghetti squash in the oven. It took 15 minutes in the pressure cooker. It took the same amount of time to boil regular spaghetti for the rest of the family.

My most recent experience was with hard boiled eggs. 5 minutes! BOOM!

Needless to say, I kind of felt like I was cheating on my Crockpot, but I know I will be using the pressure cooker all the time. It’s going to make meal prepping so much easier since I can cook things much quicker.

Speaking of mom life, my “mom uniform” these days has been workout clothes. I try to work out daily, but that doesn’t always happen. My mindset is that if I’m wearing the proper attire, then I’m halfway there. And let’s be honest, tanks and yoga pants are pretty stinkin’ comfortable.

It’s been a while since I have posted a Friday Favorites. I’ve had every intention on making this edition a regular staple, but you know, mom life.

I thought I would scour the internet and find the cutest workout clothes that I want to add to my “mom uniform” collection and to give you some cute ideas too!

It’s time for another Friday Favorites! Since I’m back to breastfeeding (I’ve really only had about a 4 week break in 3 years lol), I’m going to share my favorite things in regards to breastfeeding.

1) Medela Easy Expression Hands-Free Bustier, Black, Medium. I love this pumping bra and it is a must have for me. It allows you to be hands free while you pump. I know many people will cut holes in sports bras but I prefer this bra. It’s slips on easily because it has a zipper in the front so I don’t have to pull it over my head. Maybe I’m lazy, but I love it!

2) Food! That’s a no-brainer, right? Specifically things that help boost milk supply. I love to make lactation cookies. Do we really need an excuse to have a cookie? Use oats, flax seed and brewers yeast to help your supply.

3) Nursing pillow. I love my Boppy! How cute is this owl boppy?

4) Breastmilk storage bags. Lay Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags With Convenient Pour Spout and Patented Double Zipper Seal, Ideal for Storing and Freezing Breastmilk, 100 Count, BPA and BPS Free“>these flat to freeze and you can easily store them without taking up a lot of freezer space.

5) Nursing tanks. I’m a bigger chested girl so I’ve tried a few different nursing tanks. This tank provides amazing support and I’ve had it for 3 years and it hasn’t worn out yet.

6) These gel pads are amazing! You can use them hot or cold. Great for any discomfort in the early days of breastfeeding or for the pain from mastitis.

What are your must haves, mamas?

Review: Bellefit Postpartum Corset

IMG_6357

Pregnancy! What a crazy adventure it is! I’m one of those women who love being pregnant. It’s such a miracle to see how our bodies transform to accommodate these little growing lives: however, I’m not a fan of how I feel in those first few weeks postpartum so if I can find some relief from the discomfort, count me in!

On September 5, I had a repeat C-section (the first was 3 years ago to deliver twins). Having been through the process once before, I had an idea of what to expect postpartum. I couldn’t wait to get my belly into my Bellefit Corset.

Ideally, you should begin wearing it 3-5 days post delivery. In my case, I developed ileus after surgery so I had to postpone until I was healed. First chance I got to slip that corset on (at 12 days postpartum) I jumped at the chance and have barely taken it off since!

12 days postpartum

Once I began wearing my Bellefit Corset, I felt instant relief. My core felt supported. My incision and back both hurt less thanks to the compression. Nursing and bending over to change diapers became easier as well.

12 days PP vs 18 days PP

According to the Bellefit website: “Bellefit compression girdles and corsets work by drawing in stretched abdominal muscles providing a 360° support structure around the torso, thus, reducing strain on ligaments and joints in the lower back, pelvis, and buttocks.” I can attest to this from my experience. The support I feel from my corset is fantastic.

You are advised to wear your girdle or corset 12-24 hours a day. They also recommend waiting until you are 36 weeks pregnant to order to insure you get the correct size. Customer service is wonderful so if you ever have any questions regarding what size or which style to get, they will help you! You can wear one after vaginal delivery or C-section too.

I would recommend a Bellefit corset or girdle to every mama. We spend 9 months supporting and growing these precious lives. It’s so nice to find something that will support us after we deliver.
