How Covid Has Changed Our Outlook on Home

Since the covid pandemic began last year, people are looking at their homes in an entirely different way.

For many people, between work and activities, they weren’t spending a lot of time at home. However, a lot has changed. As a result of remote work and quarantine, many people are changing their household criteria and outlook on home life.

Office Space

If you worked out of the house prior to covid, you may not have ever thought you would need an office space in your home. Now that you’re working from home, you realized that your kitchen counter or bed isn’t cutting it.

Perhaps you already have some extra space or another room in your home where you can get creative and create an office space. If not, you may find yourself daydreaming about your dream home office.

Multifunctional Spaces

I thought all we needed was bedrooms, bathrooms, a kitchen, and living room. While of course, we have all we need, but having multifunctional spaces is a huge desire for myself and many other homeowners.

We are now working, teaching, and working out in our homes. Finding the space to do all of this can be difficult in a lot of homes. Open floor plans make it easier to make spaces multifunctional to accommodate all the things that we have going on.

Communal Kitchens

If you’re like me, you spent many days of virtual learning, cooking meals and helping the kids with homework. Having a communal kitchen space can make things like this a lot easier. More family members can join you in the kitchen for homework, cooking lessons, and science experiments.

Is Your Home Where Your Heart Is?

So, let’s say that you fall into this category and are ready to buy a new home that better fits your needs. The process can obviously be overwhelming, especially when it comes to finances.

If you’re like me, number crunching and calculations are not your forte. If that’s the case, then use an online affordability calculator like this one. All you have to do is input your income, investments, alimony, debts, etc. and it will calculate your mortgage qualification.

Whether you want to take care of it yourself or enlist the help of a professional, you can create or buy the home of your dreams. A home that fits your ever changing needs while creating amazing memories.

What is one thing that’s a must have in your current home or your dream home?
