You take your eyes off your children for one second, they could be doing anything. Unfortunately, toddlers are not predictable. They don’t know any better. Even if you tell them don’t they will still try their luck when you turn your back. It seems sometimes when children grow up they choose to do things that force them to learn the hard way. It’s not a case of if, but when this will happen and cause them harm. As parents, we can’t shrug and say what will be will be. It’s our responsibility to prepare for the time when we need to guard them against themselves. Here’s how to always be prepared for the things they shouldn’t be doing.

Learn the Basics

Every single parent should be learning the basics of immediate urgent care. This means going to classes that teach you CPR.  If something bad happens, you need to know what to look for if your child isn’t breathing. Seek out classes or a company that can direct you to accredited experts in the urgent emergency care field.

In the class, you’ll learn how to spot changing tone in someone’s complexion when they’re having trouble breathing and getting a fresh supply of oxygen. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to deal with this situation. They’ll train you on physically resuscitating a small child, using the correct techniques for the right situation. The more you are comfortable with the process of urgent care, the less panic will set in if and when the time comes.

On a Hiking Trip

Taking children on trips through the mountains is great for a number of reasons. For one they learn about their own country, the landscape and how beautiful nature can be. Secondly, the see a different way of life. Being in the wilderness away from the concrete jungles lets little ones see things differently.

Aside from learning emergency care, you need to be sure that you’re never too far from real professional care. Check out the air evac locations nearby, and see if they could fly to your destination if you need them. If your child slips and falls, breaking a leg or hitting their head on rocks while crossing a river, you can call them to quickly come to your exact location and airlift your loved one to the nearest hospital.

Putting your feet up can feel like a bit of a luxury, something many of us feel guilty about when there are so many things to get done in our day to day lives. However it’s not just a treat, it’s absolutely essential to good health. Here are some of the ways you can relax and reduce stress during difficult times.

Practice Hygge at Home

Hygge is a Danish word which relates to feelings of comfort and coziness. It’s about living in the moment, acknowledging it as special. This practice can help us to ground ourselves as we’re no longer living (and stressing about) in the past or the future.

You can practice Hygge at home by doing activities that make you feel happy, comfortable and cozy. Run a hot bath and clear your mind while you soak. Apply face and hair masks and when you get out, slather your skin in a rich moisturizer. Make a cup of tea or hot chocolate and enjoy it in silence, savoring every tip.

Buy an adult coloring book and color in a picture, lots of therapists recommend these as they’re relaxing and can help you to unwind. You could meditate or ask a partner to give you a massage. These might not seem like significant things, but after a stressful day, they help you to unwind and get those all-important happy hormones released from your brain.

Go on Vacation

If things are really rough, a break away from it all might be just what the doctor ordered. A week or two spent lying on a beach, swimming in the sea and topping up your tan can do wonders for your mental health. Go to a Spa

Whether you go alone or with a friend or partner, a spa is a fantastic way to spend the day when you’re feeling a little frazzled. It occurred to me this morning, that I have been talking about my story and journey all over social media, but have neglected to share here on my blog. My health and wellness have undergone a tremendous makeover in the last 2 years. Two years ago, I took a chance on myself. I was exhausted. I had 18-month-old twins. I ate so poorly. I could eat an entire package of Oreos in 2 sittings. The amount of sugar that I was consuming was ridiculous. I wasn’t overweight. In fact, I was in my 120s but I was also breastfeeding my twins so that burned a huge amount of calories.

I was fed up with being grumpy and sleepy. I decided to try something I had never done before. I worked out in the past. I was an athlete, but I hadn’t done anything in so long. I was 32 and determined to make my 30s freaking awesome. I had been skeptical that anything would get me in the shape I wanted to be in, but I gave it a shot.

I began fueling my body and working out consistently 5 days a week for 30 minutes a day. I went all in and WOW! I couldn’t believe that at 32, I was in the BEST shape of my life.

Once I became pregnant with my youngest, I said that I would have a fit and healthy pregnancy. I had already been sharing my journey for a year at that point, so I wanted to continue to do that. Well, my fitness became non-existent and I felt like such a phony. I disappeared and hid. When I decided after she was born to get back to my journey, I let fear take over. Who would take me seriously? I just “fell off the wagon”. How can I help other women if I was so inconsistent the last 10 months?

Second Chances

Fear is a funny thing. I began to work with a mindset coach shortly after M was born. She helped me learn to change my thought processes and mindset. Today, I refuse to let fear take control. I KNOW I can help other women because I’ve been there.

I know what it’s like to be unhappy with my appearance, to be self-conscious, to have low self-esteem, to be anxious. I know what it’s like to feel alone in my journey like no one understands how I feel.

I also know what it’s like to find other women who understand me and support me. I know what it’s like to feel encouraged and loved on and appreciated. I know what it’s like to help women discover that they too can take control of their health, fitness, and mind.

I know the steps it takes to accomplish all of these things. That’s why I decided to become a health and fitness coach as well as accountability coach. I know everyone has different goals and I know that if you work hard, you can accomplish anything!

Sometimes it feels as though you don’t get a moment to yourself. Between work, a hectic social schedule, a thorough exercise regime, and hobbies, it can often feel like you are literally non-stop from morning to night. So, it’s not surprising that the majority of us feel that our health routines tend to fall by the wayside. After all, they tend to demand a whole lot more time than we feel we are able to give. But it’s important that we do prioritize our overall health and wellbeing. We only have one body and we seriously need to take care of it. The key is convenience! Let’s start with medical consultations. We are all bound to need to consult a medical professional at some point or another in our lives. Now, many of us put these appointments off. We contend that we can’t get the time off work, don’t want to miss a social occasion, or simply don’t have the time to visit a doctor. But this can all be extremely detrimental to our overall health and wellbeing.

It’s also likely to negatively impact you in the long run, as you will allow problems to worsen and find yourself having to take time off of everything in order to recover. The good news is that you don’t necessarily have to meet up with a doctor in person to resolve your problems. Sure, there are certain situations where you will have to meet up for a formal diagnosis. But there are plenty of times when you could make use of telemedicine. Telemedicine involves contacting your doctor over the phone. It means that you don’t have to sit in the waiting room of the doctor’s practice for extended periods of time, and can pick up test results or raise issues or concerns on an immediate basis.

Prescriptions

If you find that you have a health complaint, and your problem has been acknowledged and identified, your doctor is likely to write out a prescription, which is a formal form of instruction to a pharmacist detailing what medicine or equipment you should be provided with in order to become better. However, the majority of the time, you will find yourself spending a whole lot of time visiting the doctor to be granted a prescription and waiting around in the pharmacy for your treatment to be packed up for you. There are ways to reduce this wait!

Repeat Prescriptions

If you have a regular form of medication that you will have to take for the foreseeable future or an extended period of time, you should consider requesting a repeat prescription from your doctor. This means that your prescription will automatically be renewed and reissued when your current medication runs out. This removes the need to book in for an appointment, as the doctor will write your prescription without having to consult you.

Delivered Prescriptions

If you don’t have the time to wait around a pharmacy while your prescription is sourced and packaged, you should consider having your prescription delivered. Vitamins

You’ve got the usual drugstore remedies that you might go for. You might have a cupboard stocked full of them, you might have rituals that you swear by. You might have Googled every home remedy possible, and guzzled more lemon and honey hot water than you can imagine. But all of these are old school methods. They’re methods that we all swear by, but they’re not the future. The future is the new alternatives that we’re going to give to you today. Because when trying to remedy something to do with your health, you shouldn’t always jump to the medicine cabinet. You should explore the different health remedy alternatives that are most likely going to be better for your health, such as the options we’re going to talk about below.

Pain Remedies

There’s not one person who is reading this who likes pain. It gets in the way of everything. From that dull ache pain of a toothache to the throbbing pain of a bad back. Once you feel it, you’ll instantly reach for some form of pain relief, usually paracetamol or ibuprofen. As with pain, stress is something that we definitely all suffer with. Depending on your lifestyle and your career, you might suffer with it more than others. If used with relaxing music, it really does help you let the troubles of your day melt away. Don’t Go Cold Turkey

Going cold turkey is a myth. There are no health benefits to cutting out carbs or fats or anything else you think are unhealthy. A legitimate diet includes all of these things, but it does it in moderation. Eliminating them from your diet is only going to cause hunger pains, especially if you try to go carbohydrate-free. Carbs digest quicker and satiate the stomach, so without them, it’s will feel empty. The trick is to take it in stages and cut down without cutting them out altogether. For example, switch from white to brown. Brown pasta, rice, and bread are all much better than their pale cousins.

Too many people start a diet and pick ingredients they hate or have never tried before. This is a rookie mistake because the brain will associate the diet with being bland, and then it will crave foods it thinks are tasty. Usually, these are junk foods. So, be sure to choose the stuff which you know you can turn into a delicious meal. A perfect illustration is vegetables. Forget the things you don’t like, such as mushrooms, and focus on tomatoes and onions and peppers. Then, come up with clever ways to make them more delicious. With veggies, you can cook up a storm with a low-calorie stir fry.

Cheat

I prefer the term “treat” but give yourself a cheat day. This doesn’t mean that you binge all day on carbs and sugar. But if you want a piece of cake, have the dang piece of cake! If you’re looking for a healthier way to sweeten up things, consider raw honey. When you buy bulk raw honey, you always have an option to sweeten the dullest of dishes. Or even make your favorite sweets and replace the sugar with honey or pure maple syrup.  There is nothing wrong with cheating in moderation. Think of a balanced, 80/20 lifestyle.

Forget Your Ego

Dieters think they have to go long periods without eating, but that’s ego. It’s your brain wanting to do it the “proper” way instead of choosing the path of least resistance. People who can’t go a couple of hours with eating are going to struggle to stay motivated, which is why you should check your ego at the door. For those that love eating, it’s about frequent, small meals as the regularity of them should stop your gut from rumbling.

If you are on social media, then you can look around and see that we are making waves in how much mental health is being destigmatized. It can impact your health much like a physical illness can, so it is great that more and more people are talking about it. It is becoming much less of a taboo subject, which is why we can all talk about how we feel much more openly. Getting a good night’s sleep is just what you need to feel better and be healthier. So why do so many of us scroll through our phones late into the night, or sit and watch Netflix in bed? All of this screen time isn’t conducive to sleeping well. Write down notes, meditate, stretch, take a bath, or make yourself a warm milky drink. This will help you to sleep better, as well as break down the day and move on before bed.

Mindfulness is a bit of a buzzword of late. But in reality, it really can make a difference to your health, and in particular, your mental health. This is too much chaos to start your day. Practicing mindfulness is just doing one thing at a time. Eat your breakfast and be present; simply eating your breakfast and being with your thoughts. It is true that reducing the sugar that you eat isn’t going to cure your depression or anxiety, for example. Four Ways To Find Enrichment In Life

Your entire life, you walk through it knowing that education will open the right doors financially and in your career. A good job will open the right doors for personal fulfillment and help to secure your bank account. A good exercise routine will allow you to feel healthy and well within yourself. Everything that you do for yourself contributes to the experiences that you have in your life, but what if you concentrated less on the things that you have, and more on the feelings that you get when you’re doing more for your life and not just for you? What if it wasn’t difficult to find enrichment in life?

Being at peace with yourself starts when you stop looking for next great thing. If you find that you’re continuing to utter phrases that start with, ‘when this happens, I’ll be happy’, then you’re not truly happy yet. Only you can draw the line at enough and the thing is, enough means different things to different people. Finding personal enrichment is going to take you far more than trying hard to have it all. You can only be truly enriched and happy when you start to feel more at peace with yourself. If you can think about yourself achieving the things that you want to achieve, you’re far more likely to get there.
